Role Overview
Thunderstrike Aviation is seeking a Supply Chain Quality Engineer to establish and manage supplier quality systems across our aerospace supply chain. The role supports first product design and the company’s AS9100 certification, while actively contributing to the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Quality Management System (QMS) across all processes, including document control.
As a growing startup, this position will also be hands-on and involved in a broad range of Quality Assurance and Quality Control activities as needed to ensure regulatory compliance, product quality, and alignment with aerospace standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Qualify suppliers and maintain the Approved Supplier List (ASL).
- Define and deploy supplier quality requirements and RFQ/PO quality flow-down.
- Support development and implementation of QMS processes, including document control and configuration management.
- Plan and conduct supplier audits (AS9100/ISO 9001, AS9120, NADCAP where applicable) as well as general oversigt/monitoring of external providers and partners.
- Lead AS9102 First Article Inspections (FAI) and approve FAIR documentation.
- Establish incoming inspection, traceability, and certification controls.
- Manage nonconformances, SCARs, root cause analysis, and MRB activities.
- Perform supplier risk assessments and support source/pre-shipment inspections.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Procurement, and Production to ensure quality and compliance across the product lifecycle.
Requirements
- 3+ years’ experience in supplier quality or quality engineering within aerospace or another regulated industry.
- Hands-on experience with AS9100-aligned processes (FAI, audits, SCARs, incoming inspection).
- Familiarity with AS9102 and AS9145 / APQP.
- Experience supporting new product introduction and operating in low-maturity or startup environments.
- Eligible for NATO Secret security clearance (mandatory).
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, quality, or related field.
- Auditor training (AS9100 / ISO 9001) preferred.
- Strong documentation discipline, problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
